TREAD TAPE GRADES FUM-1, FUM-2, FUM-3 (PTFE TAPE). TU 6–05–1388–86
FUM tape – PTFE-4 tape not sintered, main purpose of which is sealing flange and threaded connections of products used both in general industrial and aggressive environments. Using FUM tape it is possible also to seal systems with solutions of alkali and acids (concentrated or diluted).
FUM tape is made by rolling twist. FUM tape could be used with pipes made of any metals, including aluminium and stainless steel. Application of FUM tape supposes availability of quality thread.
FUM tape sustains working temperature within range from -60°C to +200°C Meanwhile it provides for complete impermeability of various threaded joints having working pressure up to 64,7 MPa.
Except that, FUM tape has the following advantages:
- oil and petrol resistance;
- anticorrosion;
- non-toxic;
- has high thermal and chemical resistance;
- has excellent sealing capacity;
- easy and convenient in application.
The product is made having square, round and rectangular profile. Meanwhile, depending on customer requirements it is possible to make FUM tape with different size and profile.
Minimal tape length:
- grade FUM-1 — 1,0 m;
- grade FUM-2 — 1,0 m;
- grade FUM-3 — 1,0 m.
Depending upon area of application FUM tape could be of three grades:
- Grade 1 (higher and first grades) contains medical vaseline oil as lubricant (17 % – 20 %). FUM-1 is used to seal systems both with general industrial media and strong aggressive media;
- Grade 2 has no lubricant in its composition. FUM-2 is indispensable for sealing systems working with various oxidizers, including oxygen;
- Grade 3 is edges of FUM-2 and FUM-1 tapes. FUM-3 tape is used to seal systems with strong aggressive and usual industrial media.
Tapes FUM-1, FUM-2 and FUM-3 have warranty storage period 13 years.
FUM tape exclude loosening, tightening and repeated sealing. It is used as follows: tape is wound overlapping, from end of pipe, against thread rotation, thanks to which optimal thickness of joint is obtained. If tightness of the joint was not fully achieved, FUM tape is tightened but never loosened.
